The Looming Impeachment

South Korean president hasn’t escaped impeachment even after his rescue from the first attempt. South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, can be impeached for the second time. Most democracies work on rules and those rules must be adhered to. Imposition of martial law on South Korea wasn’t a fitful conclusion to the democracy or the government of President Yoon Suk Yeol. Democracies work in order to preserve the freedoms that are granted to citizens by the constitution. They work in order to uphold the laws that must protect the interests of the citizens. Democracies must abide by the spirit that the constitution has and must give lasting shelter to its faithful adherents.

South Korea being a democracy had imposed martial law, which was removed hastily for the welfare of all. The crisis that it had caused wasn’t most suitable for the citizens, and the international community. The intent of taking away rights of the citizens, even for a few hours calls for considerable introspection. A nation with a democratic government must not under any circumstances of politics remove freedoms that are granted to the citizens. South Korean president erred on his part and imposed a martial law to the detriment of its citizens. Freedoms in a democracy cannot be taken away by any dictum, and imposition of a draconian law under normal circumstances usually proves to be futile.

Most citizens live in order to work and run their families, South Korea being a democracy abides by the same principle. The government is bidding investigation, and might call for a second impeachment vote on the South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol. All democracies must abide by laws and its foundation cannot be breached under normal circumstances. South Korea erred and imposed a law that was frightful for its citizens, and people around the world. A democracy cannot be compromised by the ill-intent of a president. The normal circumstances were not threatened, and imposition of a martial was not called for in a democracy.

South Korea has a democracy and a significant economy that affects many groups and organizations around the world. The imposition of martial law under normal circumstances cannot be considered politically just. A democracy must adhere to international norms and the laws of its own constitution. South Korean President should not have been as headstrong as was made to be. A democracy cannot be suspended and freedoms that citizens take for granted hastily bartered for the lack of it.
