Debates in Indian Democracy

India as a democracy must support debate. It must enhance the democratic culture that it has been bestowed with. Most democracies work on the strength of the debates that they have in their polity. They work on the dialogue that they have with each other within. Debates and dialogues bring about a change in the polity and aid a democracy move further than it has been. Democracies pursue economic and social goals and debates help them in achieving those aims. Debates must be emphasized in a democracy and all educated citizenry must be allowed to participate in it as freely as they conveniently can. Debates must be considered sacrosanct in a democracy as they help in resolving social and economic problems and provide a burden of doubt and the efficacious nature that it has.

Doubts must be debated along with the points of contention that a democracy has. Social and economic goals must be considered a matter of import in a democracy and all caution must be exercised in giving them the political justifications and space in the polity that they require. Debates need courage and dialogues require care from all parties concerned. Debates should be considered to be a means of understanding a problem, and as a view of a group or an organization or even a political party.

A democracy, as India, should further its debates and include diverse groups in its fold. Diversity in debate must be considered a political requisite and all sections of society must be requested to participate. Most societies are diverse and must have the participation of diverse groups. A democracy gives political space to most divergent views. India being a democracy must consider debates to be a method of understanding and resolving problems.

A debate by its very nature is contentious and therefore must be given a place of privilege. The different views that are brought to the table must be given the respect that they deserve. The diverse viewpoints must be respected and understood and given a place of political priority. Debates in a democracy would bring about a change in its polity and strengthen the democratic culture that a society as India has.

Debates must be carried with the democratic spirit and all points of view must be thought upon and judged with meticulous intellectual ardour that men and women are bestowed with. Most citizens live for politics and they find politics as a means of pursuing the public policies that they vouch for, and the politics that they espouse. Debates in India would strengthen its democracy, and give its citizenry an ancient method to come to terms with.
