The Exchange of Prisoners
Israel had decided to delay its conscience again. The exchange of Palestinians for Israelis after the fifteen months long war had been inextricably delayed. Israel had received three hostages along with four citizens of Thailand. It had delayed the release of one-hundred and ten Palestinian prisoners in exchange. Palestinians prisoners should have been released with immediacy by the Israel’s government. The laggard stance of Israel did not behoove a nation that abides by a constitution. Palestinians had suffered under the war, and thousands of innocent men and women were killed. The innocent men and women had to pay the price of politics they had not participated in. The Middle-East must pay heed to peace.
The release of prisoners should be considered as a hallmark of moral justice and bonhomie that must prevail in the region. Israel and Palestine have had a bloody history since the middle of the twentieth century. The recent war proved their hard political stances. The government of Israel must work to uphold peace and economic development in the region, along with like-minded nations. Wars and conflicts are brutal, and do not bring moral or monetary gains to a society. Israel would be circumspect to ponder over efficacy of peace, and use it to advocate the same in the region that has been disturbed for the last decades. The rueful region must bring about a change in its political demeanour and give peace all opportunities to flourish.
Israel should have ordered the release of over hundred prisoners and harboured more delays. The confidence-building measures by the Israel’s government should be considered with urgency that morality demands out of a government. Israel along with Palestine must work to bring peace to the region, and not allow the past to be a hindrance in their polity. Israel’s government must consider lives of prisoners as sacrosanct. Most recently, they have handed them to the Palestinian side. Israel must foment peace in the region and consecrate the laws that they abide by.
The killings of innocent men and women should not be allowed further and any deterioration of political interests must be curbed. Both Israel and Palestine must live side-by-side and allow each other to uphold peace in the disturbed region. The Middle-East as a region has been in political turmoil, and must give more attention to peace and security. Economic development should become another aspect that would benefit the region, including Israel and Palestine. Israel must be circumspect, and permit peace to become a way to live in the disturbed region.
