The Countless Problems of Kenya
Kenya has been struggling with its economy. It must consider certain steps that can be beneficial to resolve its economic problems. Kenyans deserve a better government that provides opportunities to its citizens. Most developing economies face countless problems, Kenya being another developing economy, has been facing almost a crisis-like situation with its finance bill. The protests have caused irreparable damage to the property, and have taken lives of over twenty citizens and injured many. The Kenya’s government would be well-advised to seek appropriate policy measures and quell the disenchantment that has been gathering pace. The liberty of citizens should not be challenged and best practices must be emulated to bring about a change in the economic situation.
The Kenyan government should tax-less, and invest more on infrastructure. If the situation is dire, as the case might be, for over a year then it must institute a special tax for the very wealthy. It will help the state coffers, and restore stability to a nation that has been protesting its government over taxes. Tax helps the government to function as well as it must to serve the needs of the citizens. Kenyans do need to pay their taxes, but the taxes must be to their advantage. Taxing a population excessively or more than it can give any given point of time, leads to civil unrest as observed in Kenya. Kenyans must be satisfied with their tax bill and government coffers must get sufficient resources to run the economy as well as they wish to do under given political circumstances. Taxes must be on the lower side for the citizens; a basic tax must be levied to quell the protests, and given a period to solve the economic problems that has been threatening political stability of the African nation, in addition to a special tax for the very wealthy.
