The End of Politics
Hong Kong’s Democratic Party has been disbanded. The pressure from China was hard to come to terms with. China has proven once again that it would stifle freedom, and not allow democratic rights to flourish in Hong Kong. The Democratic Party has been one of the last liberal voices that has observed its tragic culmination into political nothingness. China has been severe on Hong Kong, and has led it to oppose freedom. Political parties have the right to exist, and function freely in a democracy, but not so in China. China has been under communist rule which has led to major crackdowns on political activists and liberal-minded intelligentsia. China should avoid further opposition to voices that support freedom. Communists, by their very nature, are led to believe that their own version of history is true, they think about their own class and function in order to uplift sentiments that support proletariat and all other forces, be it historical or otherwise. The social forces that come to oppose these political changes are mercilessly destroyed. Hong Kong, once a citadel of restored humanity, has observed political anxiety due to disbanding of a political party.
China should allow men and women to live in freedom, and voice their concerns and doubts as freely as they must. The historical version of society that the communists are prone to give, does not justify blatant disregard of a political party’s right to exist. Freedom cannot be compromised for very long and China must take cognizance of it. All history has been laden with politics. It comes at a price, Hong Kong, might be one of the last cities where the communist experiment should take its toll. China must enhance liberty, rather than compromise the much-cherished political value. With all it masquerades of communist idea of a hostile history, China has proven itself to be a tyrannizing machine that does not come to a conclusion. Hong Kong must see better days, filled with liberty and dignity of the individual.
