A Misunderstood War
The European Union has decided to give USD 105 billion to Ukraine as loan assistance. The amount comes after a prolong meetings by European leaders that defined the sufficient amount for a nation that has been at war. The Russia-Ukraine war has been going for quite a few years without any known outcome, and the casualties have been mounting, and its destruction has been uncalculated. The new loan issued by the European Union should be used for humanitarian purposes rather than in escalation of war efforts. The further violence in Russia and Ukraine must be made avoidable, and all care must be exercised that its political leadership understands the responsibilities that they must shoulder. The international community, along with Europe must make its stand firm, and ask for peace. Peace should be made a benchmark of further relations between the warring parties, and its immediate outcome must be another productive round of talks, which by all intent, must lead to peace. The political motives of Ukrainian leadership must be made clearer to the international community.
The loan, in proper sense, must be used for rebuilding a nation that has been shattered by a misunderstood war. The war should have been avoided by the warring parties which was not, under the political circumstances that they inadvertently found themselves in. Politics in the region must be used to bring peace, and protect human rights of its citizens. The extension of skirmishes between the warring parties should be made avoidable. Political restraint must be exercised by the warring parties, and the international community must acknowledge the human rights violations and displacement of population that the war has led to. The human rights violations cannot be condoned by the international community and an inquiry must be set-up after the conclusion of the war. Wars and murders do not lead to peace or improvement of human ingenuity, peace does. A new loan by Europe is a welcome measure of respite.
