A Demand for Stability
Sri Lanka must get its act together on environment and economic fronts. Rather than seeking assistance from International Monetary Fund (IMF), it must approach international environmental bodies to leverage its expenses. As a nation, it must rely on technical knowledge to resolve its economic mess, and not seek loan as assistance, which can be hard to fulfil as an obligation. Sri Lanka must also seek advice from India and other friendly nations, on economic issues, and not choose quietude over policy deliberation. It must not hamper its environmental efforts and rebuild its economy.
Most nations that are at the forefront of human advancement have achieved their aims with meticulous planning and foresight. The trust in international partners also comes out as third factor which must be understood and used by the government. Sri Lanka should seek assistance from group of liberal and right economists who can assist the island in achieving its economic aims. In the last years, Sri Lanka had suffered due to unforeseen political upheavals, which should be avoided in future years. Politics must be made stable, and full political stability must be achieved, as other nations have proven themselves capable of. With right expertise, Sri Lanka would be able to manage its problems, and not seek help from international lending agencies which must be leveraged only when a nation is at disadvantage. A nation must be wary of international lending agencies and must use knowledge of the economy to uplift itself, and the citizens that they are part of. Most environmental problems can be managed efficiently, provided technical knowhow is given to the personnel involved in environmental work. Trained manpower along with new disaster management agency must be prepared to deal with the problems emanating from environmental catastrophe. The international loans should be ignored by the Sri Lankan government, and more planning must be used in order to deal with economic mess. It would be prudent to rely on economic experts, rather than international bodies that can suffocate a nation that is laden with problems.
