A Marker of Distinction
Education needs more investment in developing economies, chiefly India. To grow economically, India must invest more on education and work with an economic aim. The import of education cannot be kept aside for a developing economy and more investments would go a long way in making a developing economy more competitive. India, including its private sector, must ponder over the salience of education and its importance in building a resilient economy. Most developed economies have invested substantially more on education and skill-building than India. To compete globally, India with other developing economies should build more universities of science and arts, engineering and medical universities, and invest substantially more on primary and secondary education. Education has an intrinsic value, it gives men and women an aim to live by, it gives them the skills of work, and civic sense to live with others in a diverse society. Most societies today are diverse. They carry citizens of various cultural hues, political and religious beliefs. Diversity must be made more comprehensible to the citizenry through the aid of education. It should make them understand the future trajectory a national economy might take and their need for preparedness. Most nations that have advanced economically have done so through education. India must follow the same dictum of economic advancement and give its citizens the privilege of education.
To grow economically in the twenty-first century, India must be more serious in its intent and invest more on education. India should invest a higher percentage of its GDP than the prevalent number. To be more competitive, citizens need assistance of higher education or a robust vocational training to function in a marketplace. Education should be made more accessible to the citizens. The government would be well-advised to invest in education and make its citizenry fitter for work. Education is an important marker of distinction in a society and should be acknowledged as a panacea for social ills. Education should not be avoided by the government and its importance must be given the attention that it deserves. The salience of diversity makes education an effective measure of society, and gives citizenry the right skills to work with. With the aim of a nation that has economic advancement, India must invest much more on education and give more opportunities to its citizens.
