A President Ousted in Venezuela
The United States has attacked Venezuela. Its former president, Nicolas Maduro, has been forcibly removed and captured, and the sovereignty of a nation has been challenged. The United States has its own blatant viewpoint. It wanted to throw out a dictator in South American nation, filled with drug cartels and immersed in immoral crimes. The lasting impression of such a military action would be a change in political power. The new ruler of Venezuela might be the opposition leader or a new appointee ready to fill in the political vacuum. The United States, in all its senses, has taken a drastic military step that has violated international law and not given adequate attention to the norms set by the previous US administrations. The morality of a regime is derived from its people. The United States should be more circumspect to defend its decision in the United Nations, and decide a best course of action. Any military intervention without informing the international community or the United Nations General Assembly must be considered as apprehensive. Most nations should support the principles of sovereignty, and the United States as a dominant power must acknowledge the basic precepts of international politics. With the new ruler at the helm Venezuela might have a new beginning. The change in regimes in South American nations has not proven worthwhile in the past. The political past may be recurring in the South American continent. Any military action should have the approval of the Security Council or the United Nations’ General Assembly, and the United States must take cognizance of this salient norm.
The strike on Venezuela, and forcible removal of its president should be considered an act of flagrant military intervention without any regard to international law. The international law must be respected and precedents must be followed by the United States. The United States must make its intention clear, and state its reasons for violating the principle of sovereignty. The hesitancy on the part of the United States must be condemned, and its military action must be explained to the international community. The forcible military intervention in a nation is not the best method to resolve international disputes, even if related to crimes. Most nations like to live in peace, and deserve better opportunities of life. The dominant power of our times, the United States must be made accountable for an intervention which it didn’t make amply clear to the international community. The military interventions should not be made an administrative habit in the United States or in any other global powers. The United States must defend its stance in the United Nations or in any other international platforms. Needless military excursions should not become a norm in the twenty-first century. The new government in Venezuela must deal with the change in politics, and should seek assistance from the international community. A nation requires a good economy to function in, and must provide basic necessities of life to its citizens. The conflicts and crimes should be made intolerable by the new leader in Venezuela, and brought to the attention of the international community.
