The Renewed Rivalry
Iran has threatened the United States again. It has promised to levy long and painful strikes on the United States, if it complicates the matter further. If there are renewed attacks on Iran, political conditions might get murkier. Commerce would be hit hard and the Strait of Hormuz might be made to suffer due to inefficiency caused by the two nations. Commerce should be given a priority, and peace must be restored in the Strait of Hormuz, and between the two nations. Excessive belligerence that the disputed parties are prone to does not serve any political purpose. Political differences should not be resolved through military means. The United States must be more adept at dealing with Iran rather than taking war and another round of strikes as an option. Peace and negotiations are the need of the hour and should be paid attention to. The United States has been blatant enough in the past to attack Iran without reaching any geostrategic objectives. If it wants peace to prevail in the region, it should not attack Iran again. Another round of strikes might lead to uncalled for violence in the region, and loss of lives and property.
The United States should consider war as a losing proposition and give up on its late tendency of embroiling itself in a war. The decision-makers in the United States should side with peace and commerce and allow twenty-first century to be peaceful rather than pushing the Middle-East to the brink of war. Wars do not bring any gains to the exchequer, and the United States must acknowledge the same. It must use diplomacy to resolve its problems with Iran, rather than give in to the dictates of war and killings. Needless killings in the region should be made preventable. Iran being a regional power should be responsible enough not to play second fiddle to the United States. It has the risk of failing again, and might befall into the geostrategic snare that the US is laying for it. Threatening Gulf States in the region is not the best course of action, and disturbing commerce just to irk United States does not behoove its economic aims. The United States and Iran must call for indefinite ceasefire in the region, and not allow old rivalry to surface again. Iran must focus on its tattered economy after the war, rather than preparing itself for another round of strikes against the United States’ allies in the region. Sanity must prevail in the region rather than threats. The United States must call for indefinite ceasefire.
